Pula has one of the most diverse and longest shore in whole Croatia, which is home of many breathtaking beaches. Here is our choice of the best and most popular beaches in Pula.
1. Havajsko – a “tropical” heaven in heart of Istria
It reminds you of a tropical beach that is rare in this areas. A clear water and white pebbles in the heart of the cove make the water emerald and remind us of some tropical island. It is situated on the Verudela peninsula, and visitors must walk about 300-400 meters to get there from bus station or parking lot.
2. Ambrela – the most popular beach in Pula
Ambrela beach is one of the most popular beaches in Pula, located in the tourist area of Verudela. From the center of Pula it is about 4,5 kilometers away. The beach has a blue flag for the purity of the sea. Because of the gentle entrances to the sea, Ambrela pebbles are very popular for families with children. It’s a great place to sunbath as there are no shades provided by trees in the area. Above the beach is beautiful promenade, you’ll get to the Brioni beach on the left, and Saccorgiana beach on the right.
3. Pješčana uvala
As its name says, the beach is sandy with a partial pebble area. The sea is mostly calm so beach is perfect for families, non-swimmers, and because of easy access it is also good for people with disabilities. Visitors can enjoy playing picigin, basketball, beach volleyball, or have a drink in one of a many cafes nearby.
4. Gortanova uvala
The bay of Gortan Beach is located in the bay of the same name, along the Lungomare promenade. To get to the beach you should lower down the stairs and it has a nice entry to the sea. It is excellent for kids and families and favourite between couples. Just above the beach, there is a beach bar Pomidor, where you can have a drink or enjoy ice cream.
5. Galebove stijene – a peace of wilderness
The sheltered beach in Muzil bay is a natural environment that many love and appreciate. Access to the beach is from a forest, a small trail leading to the pebble beach. The beach is mostly rocky, but accessible and suitable for sunbathing. Because of caves and jumping from high cliffs it is very popular within youngs and adventerous people.
